Our Diocese

The Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina formally began in 1922, when the Missionary District of Asheville, a part of the Diocese of North Carolina, became a separate and independent Diocese of its own. The Diocese consists of 28 counties in Western North Carolina and is divided into six deaneries. Our diocese contains 63 parishes, 6 summer chapels, a diocesan School (Christ School), two conference centers (Lake Logan and Valle Crucis), a summer camp program (Camp Henry) and a retirement community (Deerfield). The Cathedral of All Souls is the cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina and the seat of our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. José A. McLoughlin.
